55 mph!
The fastest recorded speed during the survey.
The results of the survey show consistent speeding according to the 85th percentile as stated by the current City of Albany traffic calming policy (which states that consistent speeding is determined by the 85th percentile measured at 30 mph or more). The 85th percentile speed for this block measured above the threshold of 30 mph.
Another surprising result is the average daily traffic volume of almost 1700 vehicles per day. The good news is that the City can move forward with traffic calming efforts.
The next step: The City will create "35% plans" for preliminary discussions. Staff has also suggested that a discussion of these ideas be held at a future Traffic and Safety meeting.
