Active Transportation Plan (ATP) |
The City of Albany website has a page dedicated to the plan, including the full plan in PDF format. For your convenience, sections that apply directly to this project have been separated and are highlighted here:
Sidewalk and Pathway Network
Bicycling Network
Street-Specific Project Sheets
Funding and Implementation
What is the ATP?
City Council approved the ATP on April 16, 2012.
The ATP assesses unmet needs for non‐motorized transportation in the City and prioritize future projects. The Plan sets forth key goals and policy objectives that apply to walking and bicycling facilities directly and also seeks to institutionalize the accommodation for these modes throughout City policies and practices.
Albany, through the Active Transportation Plan, will be a community that enables adults and children to walk or bike to meet their travel needs and improve their health and the environment. The Plan prioritizes routes to schools, BART, Solano Avenue, San Pablo Avenue, shopping, parks, the waterfront, and neighboring towns.
How does the ATP affect this project?
The ATP makes suggestions specifically for Posen, Peralta, and Francis, the focus of the potential traffic calming project. Generally, the ATP is used to document policy and guide implementation of local projects and programs.
