Primary Goals:
1) Reduce average driving speed on Peralta Ave The speed survey showed that the 85th percentile of all drivers were more than 5mph over the speed limit. This is the first threshold to begin with traffic calming planning. Slower drivers will make a safer street and neighborhood. The effectiveness of any calming actions will be measured against this baseline. |
|
2) Conform affected streets, sidewalks, crosswalks, and intersections to Active Transportation Plan standards and suggestions
Albany City Council approved the Active Transportation Plan in 2012. This is a perfect opportunity to combine efforts to meet multiple goals. |
3) Collect resident feedback throughout the process
The residents in this area are most affected, but unless you speak up, your considerations will go unaddressed. Contact me to find out how your voice can be heard, or find out about the latest plans from the Traffic and Safety Commission. Make sure you talk with your neighbors, too!
